Join us at Feather Leaf Inn on St. Croix and become part of the everyday work of caring for a historic Caribbean property, growing food and welcoming guests.
There’s plenty to do, and plenty to learn. We’re restoring historic buildings, nurturing tropical gardens and a growing food forest, and creating a welcoming, plant-based retreat space. Our volunteers play an important part in this work, and some return again and again.

How you can help
Projects vary depending on the needs of the property, retreats and events. You could get involved in:

Gardening, fruit tree care and landscaping.

Painting, decorating and restoring historic buildings.

Building, repairs and maintenance.

Preparing guest breakfasts and helping with food.

Cleaning guest rooms and organising shared spaces.
Expect practical, hands-on work, including outdoor tasks that can get hot, sweaty and muddy. Bring a willingness to learn, ask questions and contribute to the team.
What a typical week looks like
Volunteers contribute 25 hours per week, with two days off to rest and explore St. Croix.
We usually work Monday to Friday, from 8am to 1pm, followed by a big lunch together and time to socialise or explore. Schedules may change around retreats and events, so flexibility is essential. If you work a weekend shift, you’ll receive time off on another day.

Your stay includes:

Flights, travel insurance, visas and personal transport costs are not included.

The work can be demanding, especially in the Caribbean heat, but volunteers consistently describe it as rewarding. They value the clear guidance, supportive team and opportunities to grow in confidence while contributing to something meaningful.
Living and working together
Our motto is “Just beyond your comfort zone is empowerment.” We encourage curiosity, teamwork and a willingness to try something new.
Please arrive on time and ready for each shift, with suitable clothing, closed-toe shoes, sun protection and a water bottle. Safety comes first: ask for guidance whenever you need it.
We also ask everyone to care for their shared home, treat others with respect and bring patience to both the work and community life.
Ready to join us?
We welcome solo volunteers, couples and partners of volunteers who are over 22 and have at least basic English.
A minimum commitment of one month is required, giving you time to settle in, learn and contribute to ongoing projects.
